Position Overview

We are seeking an Electrical CAD Technician for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Albuquerque, NM. The Electrical CAD Technician will support technical teams of detailers, designers, and engineers in developing high-quality drafting and design deliverables for a variety of projects.

This position will assist with computer-aided drafting and design, preparation and revision of engineering drawings, and project documentation while ensuring all work complies with applicable drafting standards, procedures, and client requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, eager to learn, and interested in building a long-term career in electrical design and drafting.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist technical teams of detailers, designers, and engineers in developing high-quality drafting and design deliverables.
• Assist in developing computer-aided drafting and design solutions for a variety of projects.
• Prepare drawings and revise existing engineering drawings of basic components based on sketches, layouts, and design direction.
• Assist with preparing and revising plot drawings.
• Assist with drafting design and documentation for various projects.
• Adhere to company and client drafting standards, procedures, and quality requirements.
• Follow established drafting practices and standards applicable to the selected discipline.
• Utilize standard CAD and drafting programs to complete assigned tasks.
• Support continuous improvement efforts related to drafting practices, processes, and deliverables.
• Research solutions to project-related concerns and assist in recommending solutions to design problems.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other technical personnel to develop accurate and complete project documentation.
• Assist with special or ad hoc projects as assigned by management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Coursework in drafting technology required.
• Previous experience with AutoCAD required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Self-motivated with an eagerness to learn and develop professionally.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a technical team environment.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and willingness to take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous CAD experience in an engineering or technical environment.
• Some experience or exposure to GIS.
• Specialized CAD certification.
• Experience supporting electrical engineering or electrical design projects.
• Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and documentation practices.
