Description
Cheraw, SC & Surrounding Service Territory
Starting at $35/hour, with higher starting pay based on experience and diagnostic expertise
Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Daytime Field Service
You know how to trace an electrical fault, troubleshoot a controller, and find the cause of a breakdown—not just replace parts until something works.
Bring that expertise to WMH Solutions.
We’re hiring an experienced Electric Forklift Field Service Technician to diagnose, service, and repair electric forklifts and battery-powered material handling equipment at customer locations throughout Cheraw, Chesterfield County, and the surrounding service territory.
You’ll have a take-home service van, company fuel card, paid travel time, diagnostic laptop, and technical support, plus paid Linde OEM training to keep building your skills.
Hands-on electric forklift diagnostic and repair experience is required. Linde experience is not.
What You’ll Get
- Starting pay of $35/hour, with higher starting compensation based on experience and technical expertise.
- Technician performance incentives.
- Take-home service van, company fuel card, and paid travel time.
- Monday–Friday daytime field service.
- Diagnostic laptop, service software, and access to technical and OEM resources.
- Quarterly tool allowance, safety boot reimbursement, and cell phone allowance.
- Company uniforms with professional laundering.
- Paid Linde Material Handling OEM training and ongoing technical development.
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- 401(k) with company match and profit sharing.
- Paid time off and paid holidays.
- Life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage.
- Opportunities to develop your technical expertise and pursue future leadership responsibilities.
The Work
This is a field-based service position. You’ll travel to customer locations in your assigned territory, manage service calls independently, and stay connected to WMH’s service team and technical support resources.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical problems on electric forklifts and warehouse equipment.
- Use electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, fault codes, digital multimeters, and diagnostic software to identify failures.
- Troubleshoot motors, controllers, contactors, relays, sensors, wiring, connectors, industrial batteries, and charging systems.
- Investigate intermittent faults and complete repairs that address the underlying problem.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and safety checks.
- Explain findings and repair recommendations clearly to customers.
- Accurately document diagnostics, repairs, parts, labor, and equipment conditions.
- Maintain your assigned service van, tools, parts inventory, and equipment.
- Follow safe service practices and share technical knowledge with teammates.
Equipment may include electric counterbalance forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, electric pallet jacks, walkie/rider pallet trucks, and other battery-powered material handling equipment.
What You Bring
Required qualifications:
- Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing electric forklifts or closely related battery-powered material handling equipment.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to read schematics and use a digital multimeter.
- Working knowledge of electric motors, controllers, wiring, industrial batteries, and charging systems.
- Hydraulic and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently, organize service calls, and communicate professionally with customers.
- Accurate service documentation and a commitment to safe, quality repairs.
- A valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable for company vehicle use.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of field-service work, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred qualifications:
- Five or more years of forklift or material handling service experience, or equivalent demonstrated diagnostic capability.
- Previous field-service experience.
- Experience supporting or mentoring other technicians.
