GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Electric Engineering Technician I
This is an entry-level technical engineering position in the Electric Engineering Division of the Electric Utility Department. It involves extensive multi-tasking for field work, design work, and customer service.
Electric Engineering Technician II
This is a technical engineering position in the Electric Engineering Division of the Electric Utility Department.
Electric Engineering Technician III
This is a highly skilled technical engineering position in the Electric Engineering Division of the Electric Utility Department.
Electric Engineering Technician IV
This is a highly skilled technical engineering position capable of working independently with minimal supervision in the Electric Engineering Division of the Electric Utility Department.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Electric Engineering Technician I
High school diploma or GED required. Specialized coursework or on-the-job training in a related skill area preferred. AutoCAD experience is preferred. Must demonstrate aptitude to quickly learn basic-to-intermediate AutoCAD skills within first 6 months. No prior experience required.
Electric Engineering Technician II
High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 12 semester hours in engineering, physics, mathematics, or basic electricity required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for college coursework. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the electric transmission and distribution industry. Completion of the Engineering Technician II training program, or equivalent, required.
Electric Engineering Technician III
High school diploma or GED required. Associate of Arts degree with coursework relevant to engineering required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for degree requirements. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the electric transmission and distribution industry. Completion of the Engineering Technician III training program, or equivalent, required.
Electric Engineering Technician IV

Electric Engineering Technician I
Candidates must have a foundational knowledge of engineering and drafting principles, practices, and techniques. A strong aptitude for working with software applications related to design and calculation is essential, along with intermediate math skills at the level of high school algebra and geometry. The role requires the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects of varying complexity, ranging from short-term to multi-year efforts. Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet multiple deadlines are necessary. Candidates must be able to assess situations and make sound decisions, work competently with minimal supervision, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, city officials, contractors, and members of the public. The ability to understand and follow moderately complex oral and written instructions is required, as well as the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Electric Engineering Technician II
This position requires working knowledge of modern practices, materials, methods, techniques, and equipment used in the construction, operation, and repair of electrical distribution systems. Candidates must be familiar with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to the electric utility industry. The ability to perform technical engineering computations, analyze technical data, and complete assigned technical work is essential. Candidates must be able to prepare, interpret, and understand technical plans, specifications, and reports. Proficiency with GIS and electric utility system maps is required, along with knowledge of electrical construction plate assemblies and the materials and labor involved in work order creation and cost estimates. Training Programs
