Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Salary Range: $90,000-$100,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
Please note: This is an onsite position in San Fernando, CA. Relocation assistance is not available. Candidates should be comfortable commuting to the facility.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to serve as the primary EHS resource for our San Fernando manufacturing facility. This is an excellent opportunity for an EHS professional looking to take ownership of site safety initiatives, partner with Operations, and make a direct impact on workplace safety and compliance.
Our organization has been a leader in manufacturing and servicing components for the transit industry for more than 50 years, supporting bus, subway, and commuter rail applications.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the primary EHS contact for the facility, managing day-to-day safety and environmental programs.
- Execute site EHS strategies, goals, metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with Operations and employees to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations, with a strong focus on California requirements.
- Maintain compliance with Cal/OSHA, Title 8 CCR, IIPP, Heat Illness Prevention, LOTO, machine guarding, and other applicable safety programs.
- Manage environmental compliance programs including air permits, hazardous waste, stormwater, and wastewater requirements.
- Conduct safety audits, workplace inspections, risk assessments, and corrective action follow-up.
- Develop and deliver EHS training and maintain required documentation.
- Support regulatory inspections, internal audits, and corporate EHS initiatives.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of EHS experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or assembly environment.
- Knowledge of California EHS regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting safety programs, employee training, audits, and regulatory documentation.
- Ability to work independently while effectively partnering with site leadership and Operations teams.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cal/OSHA experience.
- Background with Heat Illness Prevention programs.
- Stormwater compliance experience.
- Bilingual communication skills.
- Experience with ISO-aligned EHS management systems.
