 Job Title: Environmental Health & Safety Specialist
 Location: Northbrook, IL
 Hire Type: 6 month contract-to-hire
 Target Pay Rate: $36.00-$41.00/hr
 Work Schedule: M-F 6am-2:30pm

Job Description:
Our client is a leading manufacturing organization seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to support their Northbrook, IL facility. This person will work closely with the EHS Manager and manufacturing operations to maintain and improve environmental, health, and safety programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Support manufacturing operations and the EHS Manager with day-to-day environmental, health, and safety initiatives.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver engaging EHS training programs.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS policies, procedures, safe work instructions, and management systems.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Support workplace injury, incident, and near-miss reporting and investigations.
  • Lead safety communication and employee engagement initiatives, including safety meetings and other awareness programs.
  • Develop solutions to reduce occupational hazards and exposures while supporting continuous improvement and behavioral-based safety initiatives.
  • Train and support facility safety committees.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, environmental, chemical, machinery, and applicable local regulations.
  • Participate in daily stand-up meetings and maintain EHS visual management initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in an Environmental, Health & Safety role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable EHS regulations.
  • Experience with safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Experience developing and delivering EHS training.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with employees and leadership across a manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to identify workplace hazards and implement practical safety solutions.
