EHS Specialist - Job Description

Position Summary
The EHS Specialist is responsible for coordinating health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure a safe workplace and full compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations. This role serves as a key liaison for medical services, workers' compensation, and environmental permitting to maintain a high-standard, compliant manufacturing environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Health & Safety Management
- Develops and enforces safety policies, systems, and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA regulations.
- Coordinates facility inspections and tours to detect and mitigate accident, fire, and health hazards.
- Leads investigations into accidents and injuries, preparing detailed reports for insurance carriers and legal proceedings.
- Directs Team Member training programs focused on accident prevention, fire protection, and general safety awareness.
- Provides expert advice on the selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Environmental Compliance
- Maintains the facility's ISO 14001 certification and supports the rollout of ISO 45001.
- Manages RCRA and Hazardous Waste Management programs.
- Oversees environmental permitting and monitoring, including Air permits, Storm water checks, and Waste water analysis.
- Operates and maintains equipment used to monitor air, land, and water quality.
- Medical & Workers' Compensation
- Supervises company medical services and oversees injury prevention and vocational rehabilitation programs.
- Manages workers' compensation claims, including contract negotiation and performance monitoring with insurance carriers.
- Provides disability management training and education to Team Members and leadership.
