Job Summary

Our EHS team supports two Twin Cities metro sites, partnering with Engineering, Facilities, Operations, contractors, and site leadership to create safe, healthy, and productive workplaces. We identify risk, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement across complex manufacturing environments. This temporary assignment will help maintain EHS program continuity during a staffing transition. We are looking for an experienced EHS professional who can quickly integrate with the team, provide practical field support, and independently drive assigned work to completion.

As a Temporary EHS Specialist, you will support environmental, health, and safety activities across manufacturing, facilities, and project work. You will help sustain critical programs, support day-to-day operations, and provide a visible field presence during a period of transition. This role requires initiative, sound judgment, organization, and the ability to manage competing priorities with minimal direction. You will identify issues, engage stakeholders, and follow through on assigned work. This role is primarily onsite at the Bloomington, Minnesota campus, with occasional support at the Shakopee location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day EHS support and visible field presence for employees, contractors, supervisors, Facilities, and project teams.
  • Support safety reviews for equipment installation, startup, modification, maintenance, and construction activities.
  • Conduct incident investigations, support root cause analysis, and help develop and track corrective actions.
  • Perform field inspections, audits, safety observations, and hazard assessments.
  • Support assigned EHS programs, compliance activities, and related documentation.
  • Assist with development, review, and maintenance of Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Support contractor safety activities, including work plan review, field oversight, and verification of required controls.
  • Help maintain emergency response readiness through organization of equipment, supplies, and documentation.
  • Deliver EHS training, coaching, awareness activities, and employee support as needed.
  • Track action items, audit findings, compliance requirements, and project commitments to completion.
  • Support risk assessments and practical risk reduction measures.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, semiconductor, or other industrial operations
  • Familiarity with OSHA Construction requirements
  • Experience supporting equipment installation, commissioning, maintenance, construction, or project activities
  • Experience developing or maintaining Lockout/Tagout procedures
  • Experience supporting emergency response teams or emergency preparedness programs
  • Professional certifications such as ASP, GSP, CSP, CHMM, or similar credentials
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical discipline; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

Required Experience

  • 3 years of experience in occupational safety, EHS, manufacturing safety, industrial safety, facilities safety, or a related field.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and managing corrective actions.
  • Experience performing risk assessments, audits, inspections, and field evaluations.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry requirements.
  • Experience supporting contractor safety activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, contractors, supervisors, and technical personnel.
  • Ability to independently manage assigned work and prioritize competing demands.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Primarily onsite at the Bloomington, Minnesota campus, with occasional support at the Shakopee location.
  • Role requires hands-on field presence across manufacturing, facilities, and project environments.
