Lead Safety, Health & Environmental Excellence at a Critical Manufacturing Site

As EHS Manager, you will serve as the senior Safety, Health and Environmental leader for the Atlas Point site and a key member of the Site Leadership Team. You will provide strategic direction, technical leadership, and regulatory oversight across all environmental, occupational safety, and process-safety activities.

This role combines regulatory leadership, people leadership, and operational influence. Success depends on building a strong safety culture, maintaining regulatory excellence, and ensuring EHS and process-safety principles are embedded into every operational decision.

What Success Looks Like

EHS Strategy & Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop the SHE team consisting of two (2) EHS Advisors and one (1) EHS Technician through clear objectives, performance management, training, development, and succession planning.
• Integrate EHS requirements into capital planning, operational improvements, and site-transformation initiatives.
• Influence leaders and employees across the site to consistently achieve high standards of EHS performance.
• Proactively identify regulatory risks and implement pragmatic, sustainable compliance solutions.

EHS Compliance & Risk Management

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve SHE management systems that meet regulatory requirements, industry best practice, and Croda standards.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DNREC, Responsible Care, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other applicable requirements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain SHE programs to comply with applicable SHE regulatory and Croda Group standards.
• Serve as the primary site contact for regulators, auditors, local authorities, and external stakeholders.
• Maintain effective coordination with local responders, regulators, and community partners for potential site emergencies.
• Ensure the site is prepared to respond effectively to high-consequence safety, environmental, and operational events.
• Ensure effective contractor SHE management, including qualification, onboarding, site oversight, compliance assurance, and performance monitoring.

• Curiosity: Challenge assumptions and identify opportunities to improve EHS systems, behaviors, and performance.

Experience & Expertise

• Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years leading Environmental and Safety programs within chemical manufacturing or another complex industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DNREC, Responsible Care, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and related regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with site emergency-preparedness and response programs, including drills, incident command, mutual-aid coordination, and response-team readiness.
• Demonstrated success interacting with regulators, auditors, local responders, and external stakeholders.
• Experience leading EHS teams and building organizational capability.

Role Scope

This is an on-site leadership position located at Atlas Point in New Castle, Delaware. The role reports directly to the Site Director, leads the EHS function, serves on the Site Leadership Team, and acts as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, external stakeholders, contractors, local responders, and regional/global SHE leadership.

The role owns the site PSM program, contractor EHS framework, and emergency preparedness and response program, and may be called upon to support emergency situations outside standard working hours.
