We're looking for an EHS Engineer who is eager to make an impact by leading compliance programs, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a proactive safety culture.

In this role, you'll partner with employees at all levels of the organization to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations, reduce risk, and implement programs that protect our people, our community, and the environment. From managing environmental reporting and regulatory requirements to leading training, investigations, and improvement projects, you'll be a trusted resource and change agent for the facility.

Essential Functions

Program Development and Management

  • Develops, maintains, and updates facility health, safety, and environmental programs, procedures, records, and documents .
  • Partners with the EHS Manager to maintain compliance of the site's Environmental Management System (EMS) in accordance with ISO 14001 requirements and serves as the Management Representative.
  • Manages Hazardous Waste and Universal Waste programs in accordance with applicable regulations.

Training and Education

  • Organizes and executes comprehensive training sessions on health, safety, and environmental protocols.
  • Interprets and communicates environmental, health, and safety regulations and requirements to site leadership and employees.

Incident Response, Analysis and Correction

  • Responds to emergencies as required to offer expertise and assistance.
  • Leads incident investigations, develops corrective and preventive action plans, and provides training to strengthen root cause analysis and investigation capabilities across the site.

Regulatory Compliance and Reporting

  • Obtains all necessary certifications for the site related to EHS.
  • Prepares, submits, and maintains all required permits, certifications, and regulatory reports, including but not limited to Form R, Tier II, Title V, Hazardous Waste Generator Reports, Hazardous Waste Reduction Plans, Air Permits, Stormwater Permits, REACH, RoHS, and OSHA 300 logs.
  • Analyzes manufacturing processes and products to calculate Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), and other regulated emissions.

EHS Coordination and Risk Management

  • Coordinates health, safety, and environmental projects with other departments/functions and recommends and implements methods to increase health, safety, and environmental compliance and reduce/eliminate identified risk.
  • Partners with regulatory agencies, including NYDEC and NYDOH, to maintain effective communication and support compliance initiatives.

Risk Assessment and Compliance Monitoring

  • Conducts risk assessments, develops and implements action plans.
  • Conducts routine follow-up audits and inspections to verify ongoing compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Leads cross-functional teams to identify root causes, evaluate solutions, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Ensures compliance with Saint-Gobain and Performance Plastics EHS standards, policies, and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of environmental compliance and reporting experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to train and influence employees at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Concentration in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or Engineering.
  • Experience developing and implementing EHS programs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  • Experience conducting environmental reporting, emissions calculations, and permit management.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and risk reduction methodologies.
  • ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, or similar professional certification.

Certifications

Required (Current or obtained within 6 months of hire)

  • First Aid / CPR / AED Certification
  • OSHA 8-Hour Emergency Response Training/HAZWOPER
  • Incident Commander Training

Preferred (Current or obtained within 1 year of hire)

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)

Benefits in joining us

Certain locations require pay information be provided in job postings. Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees' wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position, which is $81,500 to $126,500 per year. We anticipate the starting salary for this position to be $89,000 to $95,000 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $89,650 to $139,150. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
