QUALIFICATIONS:
a. Required - High school diploma or its equivalent and Associate's Degree; or high school diploma or its equivalent and 48 college credits; or high school diploma or its equivalent and proof of passing the WorkKeys test
b. Preferred - Bachelor's degree in a related field.
a. Required - Training in Blood Borne Pathogens, CPR, and Medic First Aide.
b. Preferred - Current work experience with school-aged children in a school environment.
a. Required - Must be or be willing to become certified in Blood Borne Pathogens, CPR, and Medic First Aide.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides student health-related assistance including, but not limited to, dispensing medication to appropriate students and in accordance with written directions from parents and doctors; updating and monitoring student immunization records, and attending to the physical needs of students during the day.
Supports the office secretary and building principal.
Contacts the parents/guardians of children who become ill during the day.
Assists with attendance activities by performing activities including, but not limited to, contacting parents/guardians of absent students on a daily basis; handing out tardy slips; and running attendance reports.
Models and maintains discipline procedures and rules established by the teacher.
Maintains confidentiality of student information.
OTHER PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participates in staff development sessions for educational support personnel.
Sells and balances lunch tickets and generates lunch report.
Assists with clerical tasks including, but not limited to, copying, typing, answering phones, and preparation of test answer sheets.
Assists with the receiving of school supplies and their appropriate distribution throughout the school.
Provides back-up support for school secretary.
Completes other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of business English, spelling, and mathematics.
General working knowledge of standard office equipment.
Spanish/English bilingual fluency preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds about the office on a constant basis; ability to constantly position self throughout the work day at heights up to 5 feet using varied methods; ability to remain in a stationary position for periods of up to 3 hours; ability to communicate with and exchange accurate information with students, coworkers, parents, and the public.
EFFECTIVE DATE: Appointment to this position is subject to confirmation by the school board and effective thereafter.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months
