Duties and Responsibilities:
*Serve as principal simulation operations specialist for SimTiki John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) rural health initiatives.
*Enable JABSOM health training and assessment initiatives for Undergraduate Medical Education (UME), Graduate Medical Education (GME), international scholars, faculty development, and research for rural, on-site, off-site, and remote/hybrid simulation programs.
*Conduct simulation operations training for rural health simulation operations staff and faculty.
*Manage technical and administrative aspects of JABSOM simulation center and rural simulation training operations, including selecting training devices, depreciation management, technical configuration of integrated systems of hardware and software,and inventory management.
*Provide technical expertise for simulation center leaders and staff to support operations at JABSOM SimTiki Simulation Center and rural health training sites.
Operate, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and work directly with vendors to maintain continuous availability and operation of simulation software and hardware systems.
*Responsible for scheduling, coordination, setup, takedown, moulage, simulator programming, and operation of audio-visual and other data¿capture systems, aligned with simulation best practices and SimTiki policies and procedures for on-site, off-site, rural, and international locations.
Conduct secure student testing sessions and manage JABSOM competency based medical education (CBME) training and assessment events, assuring access and quality for off-site, rural, and JABSOM based trainees.
Coordinate and customize simulation training with off-site/rural program coordinators and faculty, internal and external customers, international collaborators and students, and industry representatives.
*Maintain simulation center compliance with accreditation standards, participate in accreditation activities, and maintain key operations documentation.
*Work directly with faculty, students, staff, and volunteers to coordinate schedules, registration, preparation,planning and implementation of simulation activities, including selecting appropriate simulation devices, assessments, and scenario design.
Operate IT, learning management systems, and virtual conferencing technologies.
*Conduct tours, demonstrations, and training.
*Participates in local, national, and international professional development opportunities, conferences, department programs and events, with occasional travel and work required outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Supervise subordinate staff, assigned simulation specialists, technical staff, volunteers, and other simulation center users.
Prepare operations supply and equipment budgets for review and planning by Directors and fiscal staff.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in education, biological or health science and 4 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for healthcare-education; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of simulation-based healthcare education and operations as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with simulation-based healthcare education and operations.
Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software, and audiovisual, scheduling, simulation device, and/or remote video-conferencing software.
If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
Considerable working knowledge with office productivity tools, virtual collaboration tools, and integration of computer-based systems and applications in complex workflows.
Ability to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.
Ability to travel independently to various geographical locations in a timely manner. Requirement may be fulfilled by a valid Hawaii Drivers license (class 3), comparable drivers license, or other means of transportation, which meets position needs.
Desirable Qualifications:
Formal training and work experience in healthcare simulation education and/or simulation operations.
Experience in simulation-based healthcare curriculum development, and/or research, and/or teaching.
Advanced education degree or Certification in healthcare simulation.
Work experience as a clinical healthcare professional.
