POSITION: Paraprofessional-Special Education
LOCATION: Amity Middle School-Orange 7-8 SAILS Program
SALARY/BENEFITS: In accordance with the Paraprofessional Union Contract

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The requirements of this job will require the Paraprofessional to work alongside the students; therefore the Paraprofessional must be able to physically perform all the same tasks as required of the student which may include but will not be limited to:
- Lifting
- Bending
- Climbing Stairs
- Kneeling
- Walking Distances
- Sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time
- Navigating tight areas
PROFESSIONAL PREPARATION
- Either a minimum of an Associates Degree or the candidate is willing to successfully complete the Para-Pro Assessment once hired
- Currently possesses or willing to obtain and maintain Basic First Aid and CPR training
- Currently possesses or willing to obtain and maintain Physical Management Training
- Pass background check as required
Following experience preferred, but not required - 1 or more years direct service delivery in one or more of the following settings:
- School
- Day care/Day Treatment
- Group home or other residential settings
- Medical facility
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement the students IEP as written, collect data as required and prepare reports summarizing such data
- Ensure that the student is safe socially, emotionally, economically and physically at all times with-in all settings
- Work collaboratively with Special Education Coordinator/Teacher to design student schedules
- Understand and follow all Amity BOE policies, procedures and regulations
- Attend all meetings and trainings as required by Amity BOE and the School including those provided through Global Compliance Network
- Perform all additional duties as assigned by the Teacher, Special Education Coordinator or the Director of Student Services
