Educational Director – Jean Garvin School

The Jean Garvin School is an inclusive space that inspires transformation. Our mission is to provide a supportive and differentiated approach for students to experience success through independence, mastery, belonging and generosity.

The Educational Director will oversee academic assessment, curriculum instruction and progress monitoring of all students at the Jean Garvin School.  Lead and support daily operations at the School, ensuring teachers are proficient in the delivery of the 21st century learning practices including use of technology in the classroom. The Educational Director will also collaborate with the clinical team to oversee and support staff in carrying out a balance of therapeutic and academic opportunities for students in a Trauma Transforming environment. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and lead program and educational staff development initiatives
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate education staff in the areas of Individual Education Plan (IEP) development, educational evaluations, curriculum development/instruction, speech/language needs, behavior management/intervention and collaborative teaming
  • Assist in development and coordination of employee in-service training
  • Participate in administrative oversight of operations, ensuring education instruction meets VT State requirements
  • Collaborate with LEA liaisons and other service providers
  • In conjunction with the Special Education Director, coordinate legally-mandated special education procedures for the school along with comprehensive evaluations, progress monitoring assessment reports and Educational Outcome Reports

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree (preferred)
  • EducLevel_II
  • Vermont Teaching License 
  • Supervisory Experience
  • Experience providing consultation and training with students with emotional/behavioral challenges
  • Valid driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle
  • Fingerprints

Structure:

  • Full time (37.5 hours)
  • Non-exempt
  • Salary starting at $77,354.93
  • We offer a competitive salary commensurate to experience
