Job Title: Education Specialist, Middle School AcademyDescription: The Education Specialist provides support for the Middle School Academy. Coordinates student academics and tutoring schedules in conjunction with Site Director. Acts as liaison between classroom teachers and YMCA. Provides a quality experience to children and parents to support the objectives of the program.Essential Functions:Coordinates and schedules student pre- and post-assessment testingCoordinates student tutoring schedules in conjunction with Site Director; acts as liaison between classroom teachers and Middle School Academy.Monitors student gradesAssists Site Director in planning academic activities/functionsAids Site Director in collecting program/student data and documentationAttends all meetings/trainings relative to Middle School Academies, models, and supports Site DirectorProvides Site Director with grade level curriculum guides; assists with alignment of enrichment activities' calendar communicates with Site DirectorCommunicates and updates Site Director Displays students' work/projectsPromotes Middle School Academy to parents, students, staff, and school communityFollows all programming and scheduling requirementsAdheres to policies related to boundaries with youthAttends required abuse risk management trainingAdheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youthReports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violationsFollows mandated abuse reporting requirementsRequirements:Bachelor's DegreeCPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire date.YMCA New Employee training completed before hire date.Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.Pass a 10-panel drug screen.Clear a Level 2 background check*Pay & Perks: Part-time schedule, approximately 10-15 hours/week. Must be available Monday-Friday. Pay rate: $30.00/hour; free YMCA membership for employee and discount for family.*Level 2 background clearance through DCF (Florida) required.
