About the Position
The Mississippi Department of Education is seeking to employ six (6) individuals to serve in the position of Education Program Development Specialist III as a Licensure Specialist/Analyst for the Office of Teaching and Leading Division of Educator Licensure. Third-level seasoned professional Educational Program position providing guidance and consultation services in highly complex and specialized fields of educational programs. Incumbents provide assistance and advice to other members of the department staff as well as to school Administrators and other agencies, institutions, or departments. The work involves analysis of problems and educational needs of schools and recommending corrective action necessary to maintain education standards commensurate with the needs of the school and community in meeting minimum state and federal requirements. May also be accountable for assisting in developing, scheduling, and screening of educational and other related programming. May assist to support program compliance with state and federal laws. Employees at this level may function as a lead worker and direct the work of lower-level positions. • The candidate will serve as a Licensure Specialist/Analyst responsible for processing licensure application requests. • The candidate will analyze all documentation required for the initial issuance and renewal of licenses for teachers, administrators, and instructional support personnel. • The candidate will provide verbal and written guidance to applicants through written, virtual, and telephone consultations on a daily basis. • Assist with planning the activities of the Division of Educator Licensure to achieve the goals and objectives of the program and State Board of Education (SBE). • Assist with the data analysis process related to Educator Licensure activities to improve services provided. • Possess and maintain up-to-date knowledge of educator licensure guidelines adopted by the State Board of Education/State Legislature, standardized licensure assessments required for educators, and other related policies and statutes to ensure 100% accuracy in the licensure eligibility determination process. • Assist with special programs and other related special projects in the Division of Educator Licensure. • Maintain positive, collaborative relationships and participate in collaborative activities with MDE program offices, educator preparation providers, local school districts, and all other stakeholders.
