About the Position
This is a NON-STATE SERVICE position (X-16). The Mississippi Department of Education Office of School Improvement (OSI) is responsible for supporting the continuous improvement efforts of schools identified for Comprehensive and Targeted Support and Improvement as required by The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) 1965, including subsequent reauthorizations as well as state determined requirements for Schools at Risk. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Direct programs within the Office of School Improvement. • Engage in the development and implementation of school improvement matters. • Provide oversight of existing 1003 implementation. • Supervise and facilitate the work of school improvement coaches. • Provide oversight of the development of professional learning opportunities.
What youll need to be Successful
Knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the following: • Provide direct supports to school leadership coaches. • Collaborate with internal and external entities on school improvement operational and fiscal processes. • Coordinate and facilitate professional learning supports to school and district leaders. • Review and approve 1003 funding in original and revised applications for districts with schools in school improvement e Manage and provide oversight of MCAPS (Mississippi Comprehensive Automated Performance-based System). • Manage grant funded activities and completion of various projects aligned to grant implementation. • Provide personnel oversight.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Master's Degree and 7+ years of experience. Agency preferred qualifications: • Standard Career Level (486) or comparable endorsement. • Masters degree in educational leadership. • Experience supporting students in Title | schools. • Experience in K-12 school or district level leadership.

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave
Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.
