Job Focus Area

We're looking for an independent, resourceful, and proactive Education Consultant 4 to serve as a world language specialist in Spanish, providing program development, implementation, and evaluation related to all K-12 teachers of world languages and all teachers of immersion programming in the International Associate Teacher program, and to system and school leaders. This Education Consultant 4 is also responsible for program budgetary oversight as well as support and professional development for world language and immersion teachers and their school and system leaders.

Applicants with the following skills, abilities, and experience are encouraged to apply:

  • Demonstrated ability to represent the Louisiana Spanish-speaking community with professionalism and effective communication in international settings

  • Fluency in Spanish at a level B2+ or Advanced Low+

  • Experience with multiple language acquisition pathways and instructional approaches

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor messaging to varied audiences

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to guide initiatives, engage stakeholders, and support team outcomes

  • Effective presentation and public speaking skills

  • Experience with data tracking, analysis, and using data to inform decision-making

  • Experience coordinating or supporting student and/or teacher exchange programs

  • Understanding of language acquisition principles and the benefits of multilingualism

Minimum Qualifications

Eight years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

A bachelors degree plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

An advanced degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

As an Education Consultant 4, you'll serve as the LDOE's subject matter authority for Spanish and report directly to an Education Consultant Supervisor. You'll work with another Education Consultant 4 (French) to:

  • Lead and oversee key statewide programs related to K-12 teachers of world languages and teachers of immersion programming in the International Associate Teacher program.

  • Direct the research, design, implementation, and evaluation of long-range world language plans, regulations, and policies, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws and State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) policies.

  • Develop, monitor, and manage program budgets, ensuring effective use of resources and compliance with state and federal requirements.

  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, and professional development for world language and immersion teachers and their school and system leaders, including setting standards, advising on policy, delivering professional learning, and supporting program implementation.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.

Work Schedule: Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.

Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant 4has a special entrance rate of $31.25 hourly, $2500 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for this position. The maximum amounts listed is the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
