Job Focus Area

The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) is seeking a detail-oriented Educational Consultant 4 (EC4) to join the Office of Federal Support and Grantee Relations (FSGR). This role is critical to our mission of providing high-quality guidance to Louisiana schools and stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate, monthly reporting of federal awards under the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act (FFATA) and supporting the verification of federal grant formula funding. The EC4 assists in grant application reviews and the beta testing of applications as they are developed in the electronic grants management system (eGMS). The EC4's work requires impeccable communication, organizational, and data analytic skills. The position's work supports the LDOE's Educational Priorities and the continued mission to improve all Louisiana students' academic growth.

Candidates with the following experience are encouraged to apply:

  • Education: Background in mathematics, statistics, quantitative educational research, computer science, accounting, or related data-driven fields.
  • Technical Expertise: Advanced mastery of Excel and/or Google Sheets, including data formula construction, evaluation, and handling large datasets.
  • Methodology: Training in quantitative data analysis, including single and multivariate analysis.
  • Grant Experience: Prior experience with federal grants and state educational programming (K-12 or Higher Education) and familiarity with federal/state accounting and audit procedures.
  • Grant Reporting Knowledge: Familiarity with reporting requirements for K-12 Formula Education Grants and Food and Nutrition Programs, as well as experience uploading data to platforms such as Sam.Gov. and USA Spending.
  • Soft Skills: Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, with a collaborative mindset for interdepartmental projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Eight years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

A bachelors degree plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

An advanced degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

As the Educational Consultant 4, you will lead the agency's work in the accurate, timely reporting of federally reported grant financial data as it related to the Federal Accounting and Transparency Act (FFATA). In this role, you will:

  • Communicate deadlines and reporting requirements to various stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on data collection and analysis.
  • Analyze and clean data sets to be formatted for uploading into various databases.
  • Employ single and multivariate data analysis techniques to validate data sets.
  • Evaluate data and applications for errors or inconsistencies.
  • Maintain accurate and complete files with annotations of communications to correct errors or clarify data, and support the FSGR team with projects and tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office.

Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.

Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.

Work Schedule: Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series has a special entrance rate (SER) of $31.25 hourly, $2,500 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
