Job Focus Area

At the Louisiana Department of Education, specifically within the Office of Career and College Readiness, our mission is to create, promote, and manage opportunities that ensure students in Louisiana have a meaningful high school experience. We are seeking an Education Consultant 1/2/3 to manage programs aimed at helping students improve their academic performance and explore career options, enabling them to make informed decisions about their paths after graduation.

Applicants with the following experience are encouraged to apply:

The ability to build and maintain relationships with secondary and postsecondary partners, strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are critical to this position. In addition, knowledge of and experience with K-12 and/or postsecondary education partners, education programming, and policy are preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

Five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience plus two years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

A bachelors degree plus two years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

An advanced degree plus one year of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Provide leadership, support, and administrative management for K-12 education programming that assists students on diploma pathways
  • Serve as a liaison between LDOE, K-12 systems, postsecondary stakeholders, private providers, and business/industry partners in creating and implementing policy and procedures related to meaningful high school experiences and student success

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.

Career Progression: This position participates in a Career Progression Group. As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Education Consultant 1/2/3, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.

Work Schedule: Workdays are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Education Consultant 2 (AS-617)

Hourly: $27.07 - $46.41

Biweekly: $2,165.60 - $3,712.80

Annually: $56,306 - $96,533

Education Consultant 3 (AS-618)

Hourly: $28.96 - $49.66

Biweekly: $2317.20- $3,972.80

Annually: $60,248 - $103,293

Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series has a special entrance rate of $25.30 hourly, $2,024.00 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions.The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
