JOB SUMMARY:

The Education Center Operator Assistant is responsible for assisting the Education Center Operator in the the day-to-day operations of each Head Start center, and will use agency standards to ensure that services provided are in alignment with the Social Determinants of Health through a trauma informed care lens as defined by the agency. Functions include the delivery of the Head Start curriculum and effective instructional practices according to the Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Act, Licensing Minimum Standards, and policies and procedures that lead to effective school readiness and a high quality learning environment for children and families. Responsible for developing and maintaining collaborative relationships, supervising Head Start staff at their center and incorporating an effective Parent, Family and Community Engagement Program. Maintain and oversee assigned budgets.
 
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
 
1. Reports to: Education Center Operator or designee
2. Directs: Assists with the supervision of Head Start Services staff and volunteers; liaison for parent leadership and Parent Advisory Committee, liaison with and provide leadership to personnel and representatives of collaborating agencies, community residents and others.
3. Other: Works cooperatively with all staff accomplish the mission, goals, objectives and performance measures of the program and agency.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training/Experience:

1. Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Development; or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development or other related human service field        with 18 hours of Early Childhood Development desirable.
2. Current CPR and First Aid.
3. Two (2) years previous experience teaching children ages birth to five.
4. Fluency in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak) desirable.
 
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:

1. Certificate or license, as applicable, by the appropriate State agency as a qualified practitioner.
2. State of Texas vehicle operator’s license and proof of liability insurance.
