Tower Rock, a beautiful elementary school situated in the bluffs outside of Sauk Prairie, is seeking an education assistant. Through innovative curriculum, the school integrates agriculture, Spanish, and outdoor learning, all while meeting Common Core State Standards. The modern building, together with a dynamic staff, serves students from varying backgrounds. Candidates must be willing to work with 4K students and be willing to learn basic medical processes including G-tube feedings. This 20 hour hour/week position will include working with groups of students in 4K and will support other students medically. Responsibilities include working with groups of students, assisting in the classroom, lunch/recess duties and completing grading/copying for teachers.
Essential Functions:
Assist in the planning and implementation of age appropriate activities.
Supervise students in all program activities and ensure that students are under adult supervision at all times.
Address the health and safety needs of program participants.
Communicate regularly with other staff regarding program/student issues.
Provide a nurturing environment for program participants.
Maintain an orderly physical environment conducive to optimal growth and development of program participants.
Assist in the preparation of materials needed for daily activities.
Attend required professional growth inservices, i.e. Blood borne Pathogens, Medication Distribution, and all required inservice workshops.
Participate in job specific workshops and conferences when appropriate.
Be knowledgeable of emergency procedures, i.e. fire, tornado, medical.
Provide medication administration, storage and recording consistent with school district policies and under the direction of the school principal and school nurse.
Other duties as assigned.
District Description:
The district includes Sauk City and Prairie du Sac, two "next door" villages known as Sauk Prairie. They are located on the beautiful Wisconsin River. Thirteen towns and the village of Merrimac are also in the district. The area features rolling hills, meadows, bluffs, forests, lakes and streams. The district offers small-town, rural living with easy access to the Madison urban area (25 miles) and to the Wisconsin Dells recreation area (28 miles). The district serves 2,800 students, and comprises six learning communities with a high school of 850 students, middle school of 600 students and four elementary schools of 1,350 students.
