Job Summary

This position performs a dual role supporting the Child Care Authorization Unit and the Child Care Certification Unit within the Economic Support Division of Human Services. In both aspects of the role exceptional customer service is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist current WI Shares program participants over the phone.
  • Collect information on child care participants qualified activities
  • Establish a child care schedule for eligible participants that will be covered under WI Shares.
  • Ensure participants are using a participating provider.
  • Ensure all necessary information is verified.
  • Successfully complete required trainings for CC Authorization.
  • Ensure and monitor childcare certification orientations that lead to recruitment of potential childcare providers and provide information of the rules and regulations.
  • Conduct initial onsite inspections and unannounced visits to certified childcare applicants to ensure compliance with State standards are met.
  • Monitor investigations and appropriate action on provider complaints.
  • Monitor denials, suspensions, and revocations timely. Monitors timely requests for appeals regarding these actions.
  • Coordinate and assist childcare providers in receiving in-service training.
  • Monitor re-certification site inspections and follow actions when necessary.
  • Monitor and ensure accurate information input into the states WisCCRS system.
  • Attend any necessary State and Local trainings.
  • Provide excellent customer service to various socio-economic populations and have an understanding of how to provide services while understanding cultural and economic diversity.
  • Increase certified childcare provider sites paying special attention to the urban and rural area needs and challenges.
  • Due to the nature of this positions responsibilities, there is an expectation to work outside business hour such as weekends, early morning, or evening hours.

Supervision Received

Supervision will be provided as noted above by the Child Care Authorization Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Valid drivers license for required travel to outreach and training.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Must complete training upon hire, as made available by the State.
  • Experience with individuals of varying socio-economic backgrounds.
  • High school diploma or GED. Sixty credits post-secondary education, preferred.
  • Two (2) years post high school work experience in customer service or environment working with people. Post secondary degree may substitute for work experience.
  • Experience and/or the ability to learn how to determine eligibility for services based upon Federal and State regulations.
