    Position Summary

    The Echocardiograph Technologist performs comprehensive cardiac ultrasound studies in accordance with physician orders and professional practice standards. This role requires advanced technical expertise, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to assist with both routine and complex cardiovascular procedures.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Performing high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms
    • Assisting physicians with advanced and invasive procedures such as:
      • Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)
      • Stress echocardiography (exercise and pharmacologic)
      • Contrast-enhanced studies
      • Echo-guided interventional procedures (site-specific)
    • Recognizing cardiac pathology through strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology
    • Adapting imaging techniques to meet patient-specific needs
    • Maintaining compliance with professional standards and departmental protocols
    • Participating in shared standby and call coverage, including evenings/weekends and potential regional coverage within the Portland area

    Required Qualifications

    • Oregon Sonographer license (upon hire)
    • One of the following credentials (upon hire):
      • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (CCI)
      • Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (CCI)
    • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (ARDMS)
    • BLS certification (American Heart Association) upon hire

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Associate degree or higher in Noninvasive Cardiovascular Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography (CAAHEP-accredited program preferred)
    • At least 1 year of cardiovascular ultrasound experience or completion of 800+ echo exams across imaging modalities
    • Pediatric echocardiography experience
    • Experience supporting advanced heart failure patients (mechanical circulatory support devices)
    • Experience with echo-guided transcatheter procedures

    Required Skill Set

    • Advanced cardiac ultrasound imaging proficiency
    • Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and pathology
    • Experience assisting with invasive and interventional echo procedures
    • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
    • Ability to adapt imaging protocols to patient-specific needs
