    Technical Specialist – Automation (Power Innovation Commissioning)
    Location: Bowling Green, Ohio
    Employment Type: Contract (12 Months)
    Work Setting: Onsite
    Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (7 Days On / 7 Days Off)
    Shift: 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM (Occasional Nights & Holidays)

    The Technical Specialist – Automation is responsible for supporting commissioning, startup, testing, troubleshooting, and operational readiness of automation systems used in power generation infrastructure. The role requires expertise in PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, industrial communication protocols, FAT/SAT coordination, system turnover, cybersecurity support, and safe execution of commissioning activities across complex energy infrastructure projects.

    Key Responsibilities
    Support commissioning, startup, and operational readiness of automation systems supporting power generation assets.
    Develop and execute commissioning plans, procedures, and automation test protocols.
    Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
    Perform systemization, redline validation, documentation tracking, and punch-list closure.
    Support system turnover and preparation of turnover packages.
    Conduct commissioning readiness reviews, technical briefings, and post-event summaries.
    Validate startup and shutdown logic, alarm management, and SCADA integration.
    Troubleshoot PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA systems during energization and startup.
    Support cybersecurity initiatives, control system patching, and hardware lifecycle activities.
    Collaborate with Engineering, Construction, Operations, and OEMs to resolve technical issues.
    Develop corrective action plans to improve system reliability and commissioning efficiency.
    Support operator training and knowledge transfer activities.
    Maintain automation configuration management, version control, and backup systems using AssetCentre or equivalent platforms.
    Validate automation equipment for Approved Manufacturer List (AML) activities.
    Drive continuous improvement across commissioning processes.

    Required Qualifications
    High School Diploma or GED.
    Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in power generation, industrial automation, energy infrastructure, or commissioning.
    Experience supporting automation commissioning and startup activities.
    Advanced knowledge of enterprise automation systems such as AssetCentre or equivalent.
    Strong understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
    Strong understanding of Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
    Strong understanding of SCADA systems and HMI interfaces.
    Experience with industrial communication protocols including Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, or similar.
    Experience supporting FAT/SAT, commissioning workflows, system turnover packages, redline validation, and documentation tracking.
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard field reporting tools.
    Ability to work onsite in Bowling Green, OH.
    Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, overtime, nights, and holidays.
    Strong commitment to safety during energization and commissioning activities.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
    Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
    Electrical Substation Commissioning experience.
    Power Generation Commissioning experience.
    Utility or EPC project experience.
    Experience with NFPA 70E, IEEE, and NERC standards.
    Experience supporting cybersecurity initiatives for industrial control systems.
    Experience leading commissioning readiness reviews and technical briefings.
    Experience collaborating with OEMs during commissioning activities.
