The N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Division of Aviation, a recognized leader in air mobility innovation, promotes the economic well-being of North Carolina by developing a safe and robust air transportation system. As the state's aviation authority, the division manages state and federal airport infrastructure development grant projects, in collaboration with local government owners of the state's 72 public airports, the integration of advanced air mobility and unmanned aircraft systems for business and government use, airport professional development, aviation workforce development and flight services for state agencies.
This position is part of NCDOT Aviation's Development Team, which manages state and federal grant-funded programs and provides technical assistance to develop and maintain infrastructure at the state's 72 public use airports. The position is one of two that lead regional teams of three Airport Project Managers who prioritize and manage compliance and reporting for state and federally funded airport development projects to develop a safe and compliant system of public airports in North Carolina. The position also manages special projects that support innovation, process improvements and compliance that enable the state's public airport system to meet the air transportation and economic needs of the state and its communities. This position reports to the Deputy Director of Airport Development.
In this role, you will:
A strong background in pavement design, project management, contracts, bid process, and professional service procurement is preferred. Management prefers career-oriented candidates with superior customer service skills, professional mindsets and meticulous attention to detail, interested in working in a team environment.

Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience including two (2) years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification: May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
