    GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

    • To assist in implementing the nutrition program.
    • To maintain the cleanliness of the center's food preparation and serving areas.
    • To promote the health and nutrition of the children.
    • To meet health, nutrition, and safety requirements per Federal Head Start Performance Standards and any local, state and/or agency policies and procedures.

    Essential Job Responsibilities: Performance Indicators

    • Kitchen duties
    • Assist the nutrition coordinator in carrying out the nutritional program for the activities of the class day, field trips, parent training sessions, nutritional experiences, etc.
    • Serve food in a safe and sanitary method from catered containers to carts for each classroom, and deliver food from kitchen to classrooms.
    • Ensure that dishes and utensils are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after use.
    • Perform daily custodial maintenance of center facilities as assigned, including monitoring gauges and thermometers of equipment.
    • Assist in maintaining adequate kitchen and custodial supplies and equipment.
    • Keep kitchen and custodial supplies in order.
    • Monitor menus and make adjustments as necessary for children with allergies and special diets.
    • Written Documentation & Misc.
    • Assure/assist in general maintenance and security of facility.
    • Attend meetings, trainings, and appropriate professional development activities.
    • Report meal counts and other documentation to appropriate persons.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Intermediate computer skills, internet and e-mail
    • Ability to work as a team member collaborating with staff, parents and community resources
    • Ability to respond appropriately to an emergency or a crisis situation
    • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, walk up and down stairs, carrying items if necessary, sweep and mop floors and clean facilities on a daily basis
