Position Details

Ensure high-quality preschool Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) compliance across

Lenawee County through regular, on-going classroom assessment, support and coaching. In

addition, this position works collaboratively with the Early Childhood Contact and other district

Early Childhood Specialists to ensure quality, cohesive programming and ongoing learning

opportunities for our teaching teams. The Early Childhood Specialist will work to ensure the

development and delivery of high-quality pre-kindergarten services and to support and coach

classroom staff. The service area will include programs in local school districts and other

community-based preschool partners within Lenawee County

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Required:

Master's degree in early childhood education or child development . Comparable or other

relevant graduate degrees will be considered.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant job experience in early childhood education (working with

young children in a group setting, program planning and implementation, program

evaluation, staff supervision/development and program management).

Knowledge of State of Michigan Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers.

Must have or acquire status as a reliable observer in the CLASS and have or obtain

formal training in the selected approved curriculum, child assessment and screening tools

of the classrooms supported.

Experience and training in the Creative Curriculum preschool curriculum.

Knowledge Teaching Strategies Gold child assessment.

Experience in mentoring or coaching, data integration/analysis, community outreach and

philanthropy.

Leadership ability and cultural sensitivity to develop relationships between diverse

populations and multiple agencies across the county.

Prior experience working in community-based initiatives, as well as knowledge of the

local early childhood community preferred.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Exceptional organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and REGISTRATIONS

Possess Valid Michigan Driver License, Employee must provide his or her own transportation for job-related travel.
