• Shift / Schedule: Office work typically 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday; overtime as necessary during construction. Hours will depend on project cycle.
• Travel Requirements: Travel to project sites near Earth, TX is required. Resource will be required to be onsite 4 5 days per week if on per diem. Mileage/travel will be reimbursed via expense if a company vehicle is not available. A monthly travel stipend is acceptable for non-local candidates who relocate. Mobilization/de-mobilization will not be provided to non-local candidates.

Job Summary

This electrical engineering position involves overseeing and contributing to large-scale renewable projects, including large solar and wind projects near Earth, TX. As a project engineer, this person will be responsible for providing electrical expertise, with a focus on evaluating project drawings and handling requests for information (RFIs) across multiple projects. This resource should have 2 3 years of renewable generation project experience and should be willing and able to travel to the site.

A typical day for this position will vary based on project activities. Submittals and RFIs will focus on collaborating with other engineers and project stakeholders to ensure all requirements are clearly outlined. Typical submittal activities include evaluating drawings, studies, and analyses reviewing technical documentation to confirm that everything aligns with the project specifications and requirements. Variances to the company's master specifications will need to be communicated internally for approvals by the engineer. For construction activities, the day will be more in-person, assisting team members by addressing any electrical engineering-related questions they may have about the project. This could include clarifying details about the design or construction process and troubleshooting any issues that arise on-site. The overall responsibilities will vary from planning/reviewing to providing direct support during construction.

This resource should have knowledge of how to resolve RFIs and non-conformance requests, and will work with other engineers on the project to understand and interpret design drawings, manage compliance of the construction to the design drawings, and manage RFI requests.

This role involves a mix of technical collaboration and regulatory coordination with both internal and external teams, including EPC contractors, a project-specific team consisting of a project manager and engineers, a construction field team, construction managers, construction/electrical inspectors, and Project Controls cost/scheduling staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and contribute to large-scale renewable projects (large solar and wind), providing electrical expertise across multiple projects.
• Evaluate project drawings, studies, and analyses as part of submittal activities; confirm that all technical documentation aligns with project specifications and requirements.
• Handle requests for information (RFIs) by collaborating with other engineers and project stakeholders to ensure all requirements are clearly outlined.
• Communicate variances to the company's master specifications internally for approvals by the engineer of record.
• Resolve RFIs and non-conformance requests (NCRs); understand, interpret, and manage design drawings and ensure construction compliance with those drawings.
• Provide direct, in-person support during construction activities, addressing any electrical engineering-related questions from team members, clarifying design or construction process details, and troubleshooting issues that arise on-site.
• Collaborate with facility operations and internal departments including Siting and Land Rights (to coordinate on land-use matters) and Environmental Teams (to ensure regulatory compliance on large-scale utility projects).
• Assist with obtaining local and state permits for large construction projects and coordinate with external entities including County and State Agencies and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
• Work with external equipment suppliers and contractors who have direct contractual agreements with the client.
• Interface with EPC contractors, project manager, engineers, construction field team, construction managers, construction/electrical inspectors, and Project Controls cost/scheduling staff.
• Track and document activities while interfacing with several different teams; manage the scope of a contract.
• Support planning/reviewing responsibilities as well as direct field support as project cycles dictate.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of how to resolve RFIs and non-conformance requests (NCRs).
• Ability to understand, interpret, and manage design drawings and manage the compliance of construction to design drawings.
• Ability to understand and manage the scope of a contract.
• Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical thinking skills to resolve questions, troubleshoot design conflicts, and address issues as the project progresses.
• Strong organizational skills; ability to track and document while interfacing with several different teams.
• Strong team player with experience preferably in a large matrixed organization, demonstrating the ability to work cross-functionally.
• Detail-oriented with strong troubleshooting skills to resolve design issues.
• Willingness and ability to travel to and be present at project sites.
• Familiarity with ProjectWise, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and Procore for reviewing EPC contractors' drawings and technical review communication.
• Former experience working with utilities or design firms on renewable technologies is preferred on a candidate's resume.
• Stable career progression and demonstrated experience completing projects; ability to speak to project experience with examples from within the United States.

Preferred Skills

• Professional Engineering (PE) license, or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification with intent to become a professional engineer, is strongly preferred.
• SAP experience is a plus.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited school in electrical engineering or a related field, or strong/commensurate experience.

Required Experience

• 3 years of electrical engineering experience, with 2 3 years specifically in the renewable generation project space (construction or engineering design).

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Hybrid role with flexibility to work remotely and in the field at facilities where construction is taking place near Earth, TX.
• Resource will be required to be onsite 4 5 days per week when on per diem during construction phases.
• It is preferred that the resource be located close to the project area; manager is open to non-local candidates willing to relocate for the life of the assignment at their own expense.
• Overtime is available to support construction activities but is not mandated.
• Office work is typically an 8-hour day, Monday through Friday; hours will vary based on project cycle.

• Interviews are scheduled for June 1 15, conducted virtually via Microsoft Teams (on camera). Typically one round; panel format with 2 3 members including the hiring team and project team.
• High likelihood to extend beyond the initial 12-month duration. For top performers, conversion to a full-time employee (FTE) opportunity may be considered.
• Per diem may be available to non-local candidates who relocate and are willing to spend 40 hours at the site. Mobilization/de-mobilization will not be provided to non-local candidates, but a monthly travel stipend is acceptable.
• With the level of experience expected, the resource should be up to speed within a few months.
