This is for a project engineer for the development, design, construction, and execution of a utility scale wind generation project. Responsible for performing design reviews and managing the EPC submittal, transmittal, and RFI processes, ensuring alignment with Owner specifications, project requirements, and applicable standards, provides on-site engineering technical expertise, supporting construction, commissioning activities, including testing and system verification, and works closely with contractors and project teams to resolve technical issues and ensure successful project execution. Provides engineering technical expertise on project site.
Explain what the scope of the work/project is? Project Overview, deliverables (what is this person responsible for). This scope of work for this civil engineering position includes overseeing and contributing to large-scale wind projects. As a project engineer, this person will be responsible for providing civil expertise, with a focus on evaluating project drawings and handling requests for information (RFIs) across multiple projects. Project Overview includes Large Projects near Earth, TX; Two large wind facilities, which have started design. This resource should have 2-3 years renewable generation project experience and should be willing/able to travel to the site.
- What are the top 3-5 skills and qualifications required? 9+ years of civil engineering experience with 5-7 years specifically in the renewable generation project space (construction or engineering design) . Resource should have a bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited school or strong/commensurate experience. Resource should have very strong written and verbal communication skills along with strong analytical [thinking] skills to resolve answering questions, troubleshooting design conflicts, etc. Organization is key in this role as they will be interfacing with several different teams, tracking and documenting. Resource should have knowledge of/familiarity with NCRs, RFIs, and the ability to understand and manage the scope of a contract.
- What non-technical skills are necessary (i.e., such as communication, problem solving, team player)? This resource should be a strong team player with experience preferably in a large matrixed organization which would show proof of the ability to work cross functionally. Also be detail oriented, strong communication skills, and strong troubleshooting skills to resolve design issues that may come up as the project progresses.
- Ideal candidate background and how many years required? 5-7 years of civil engineering experience with 2-3 years specifically in the renewable generation project space (construction or engineering design) .
- Are there any specific companies you like to see on a candidates resume? Former experience working with utilities or design firms on renewable technologies.
- Are there any certifications that the candidate must possess? N/A
- Are there any preferred or "nice to have " skills? Professional Engineering license, or Engineering in Training/certification to become a professional engineer is strongly preferred.
- Can you think of any "red flags " on a resume? (Large gaps, previous companies, drastic career changes, job hopping) – Concern with a lot of job hopping. This resource should show stable career/progression and experience with completing projects. Resource should be able to speak to project experience and provide examples from within the United States. Resource should have a degree and civil engineering. Resource should also be willing to be at the project site with the project team.
