About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Desktop/Technical Support Technician to support the Department of Veterans Services' (DVS) Puller Veterans Care Center, a medical facility located in the charming town of Warrenton, VA. This is an excellent opportunity to work 100% on-site in a community known for its rich history and scenic beauty. The site will host about 200 IT devices, including desktops, laptops, phones, printers, and mobile phones.
The candidate will assist DVS IT Management with the integration, management, and support of the Information Technology program for the Puller Veterans Care Center (PVCC) in Warrenton, VA, while also providing support to some remote Veterans Benefits sites. The candidate will independently provide IT administration and technical support for agency-specific software and hardware systems.
Position Responsibilities
- Setup, configure, and maintain PC desktops, laptops, and related peripheral devices (printers, scanners, etc.) and networking.
- Setup, configure, and troubleshoot Android and Apple mobile devices.
- Support and troubleshoot LAN/WAN environments, including network protocols and concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
- Install, administer, troubleshoot, and train users on E-mail applications (Google Suite, PST files, calendars, distribution lists, etc.).
- Manage IT inventory control, ticketing systems, and reporting.
- Configure and troubleshoot analog and digital phone systems.
- Resolve network and infrastructure issues.
- Set up, configure, manage, and troubleshoot routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Resolve issues related to desktop and laptop PC hardware, desktop software, general application troubleshooting, mobile devices, and various telephone systems.
- Identify security vulnerabilities and report security incidents promptly.
- Track end-user support activities through the ticketing system.
- Monitor network and computer systems performance.
- Travel occasionally to satellite offices using personal transportation, with all travel expenses reimbursed by the agency.
Required Skills
- Proficient in installing, troubleshooting, and administering Windows Operating System, Microsoft O365, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and all IT assets.
- Document changes to systems, update training and system documentation, and create new procedures for solutions and issues.
- Maintain a clean driving record and dependable transportation for light travel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
