As a Van Driver / Engagement Assistant, you'll help residents stay connected to their community while creating meaningful experiences both on and off campus. Whether you're transporting residents to appointments and outings or assisting with engaging recreation programs, you'll play an important role in making every day enjoyable and enriching.

Your Mission:

Do you enjoy driving, meeting new people, and making a difference in someone's day?

As our Driver and Engagement Assistant, you'll safely transport residents in our 9-passenger wheelchair-accessible van for shopping trips, community outings, medical appointments, scenic drives, and special events. When you're not behind the wheel, you'll work alongside our Engagement team to help create memorable activities, encourage resident participation, and provide hands-on support during events and outings.

What You'll Do:

• Safely transport residents using our 9-passenger wheelchair-accessible van for scheduled outings, appointments, and special events.
• Assist residents with boarding, exiting, and safely navigating community outings while providing exceptional customer service.
• Partner with the Engagement team to support group activities, special events, and resident engagement programs.
• Build meaningful relationships with residents while promoting independence, safety, and participation.

The Fun Part:

No two days are the same! You may find yourself:

• Driving residents to shopping trips, lunch outings, and scenic drives
• Assisting with holiday celebrations and themed events
• Helping with live entertainment, happy hours, and social gatherings
• Supporting arts and crafts, bingo, trivia, and exercise programs
• Accompanying residents to community events and local attractions
• Participating in intergenerational activities with the SALMON Center for Early Education
• Celebrating birthdays, milestones, and special occasions alongside residents

What You'll Bring:

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Previous experience driving a passenger or wheelchair-accessible van is preferred.
• Proof of a current DOT physical or the ability to successfully complete one prior to hire (SALMON covers the cost).
• CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification.
• A friendly, patient, and dependable personality with a passion for working with older adults.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to safely assist residents with mobility needs and lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
