Job Summary:

As the Operator I, II, III, you will ultimately be responsible for operating directional drilling equipment, locating underground utilities, and supporting safe telecommunications construction activities. You will execute drilling operations and deliver underground conduit installations for telecom infrastructure projects. As the Operator, your customers are telecommunications providers and internal field teams, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company’s success through safe operations, equipment reliability, and project efficiency.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

• Operate directional drilling and construction equipment in compliance with company safety procedures.
• Drill and/or locate predetermined underground paths while safely avoiding utilities and obstacles.
• Load, unload, transport, set up, and break down equipment and materials for drilling operations.
• Perform equipment inspections, maintenance, and job documentation while maintaining communication with supervisors.
• Assist with trenching, conduit placement, potholing, proofing conduits, asphalt placement, and concrete work as needed.
• Travel overnight to job sites as required.
• Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.

Required Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid unrestricted driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.

Experience

• Minimum 1+ years of directional drilling and locating experience.
• Experience in telecommunications construction and underground utility work.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and company safety standards.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of shoring methods.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CDL with tanker endorsement or willingness to obtain.
• DOT Medical Card or willingness to obtain.
• Experience operating Ditch Witch and Vermeer equipment.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• Cross-training in additional field positions such as Lineman or Splicer.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and climb for extended periods.
• Work performed outdoors in all weather conditions and around heavy machinery.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and MVR.
