The Undersea Systems Division at Leidos currently has an opening for Drafting and System Configuration Lead in our Lynnwood, WA location. This is an exciting role to work with a cross-functional technical team of engineers, technicians, and logisticians in support of underwater vehicle systems, maritime sensors, subsea telemetry, and ISR solutions for critical defense and national security missions.

This position will involve creating, updating, and manipulating 3-D solid models and preparing formal engineering drawings using drawings templates under the guidance of a senior engineer. The successful candidate will have experience in computer aided design (CAD) software, such as Solid Works or Solid Edge, and must be familiar with

manipulating solid models and preparing 2-D drawings from models. The Ideal candidate will have experience and demonstrated skills in Configuration Management practices for technical models, drawings, and documents, with a high attention to detail in managing configurations, files, and various forms of documentation.

Drawings will be created from a combination of 3-D solid models, existing drawings that need to be updated, physical on-hand parts, photographs, engineering sketches, and working prototype parts and assemblies, using a standard drawing template. Typical parts will include mechanical parts, electrical cables and connectors, and outline-and-installation drawings for electrical circuit card assemblies. Will require some knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and experience with mechanical, electric, electronic, and electro-mechanical parts and assemblies.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a solid team doing hands-on work with state-of-the-art undersea technologies!

What You'll Do - Primary Responsibilities

  • Manipulate 3-D solid models using commercial-off-the-shelf CAD software, preparing and updating drawings for complex electro-mechanical maritime systems.
  • Manage project drawing files and documents to ensure that up-to-date versions are properly stored, reviewed, approved, and made available to the project team.
  • Proactively interact with project team members on daily basis to ensure timely resolution of issues and prioritization of tasks.
  • Facilitate approval of technical data packages, including drawings, specifications, bills of material, work instructions, and other technical documentation needed to support production.
  • Follow configuration management processes for design changes, updates, and additions throughout a product life-cycle.

What We're Looking For:

  • 3+ years of experience with subsea maritime systems or integrated electro-mechanical systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in solid modeling and drafting using typical commercial CAD software package.
  • Experience managing CAD files, models, drawings, revisions, dependencies, and engineering document workflows.
  • Experience working on a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment, focused on high-quality delivery and technical rigor.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with strong communication and organizational skills.
  • US Citizen, with ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
