Description

Job Title: Electrical DrafterJob Description

This role offers an opportunity for a detail-oriented Electrical Drafter to produce high-quality construction documents for electrical and MEP systems, with a strong emphasis on tool installation projects in an industrial environment. You will focus primarily on 2D AutoCAD drafting, sheet setup, and multi-discipline coordination, working closely with engineers and designers to support complex mechanical and electrical systems. The position provides hands-on experience on a flagship industrial project and exposure to advanced MEP and tool install design workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and modify electrical and MEP construction documents using 2D AutoCAD in accordance with project standards.
  • Support tool installation design packages, including layout coordination for electrical and mechanical systems in industrial settings.
  • Set up drawing files in AutoCAD, manage X-references, and maintain proper layer standards to ensure consistency and clarity.
  • Insert and coordinate external backgrounds, vendor drawings, and installation details into design packages.
  • Perform sheet setup, plotting, and organization of complete construction drawing sets for MEP and tool install projects.
  • Assist with drafting of electrical plans, including power distribution layouts and associated mechanical utility connections.
  • Coordinate routing for conduit, cable tray, and mechanical systems in congested tool install environments.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and other disciplines such as mechanical, process, and facilities to incorporate markups and revisions.
  • Read and interpret redlines and design markups and accurately translate them into updated drawings.
  • Maintain drawing accuracy, organization, and adherence to internal CAD standards and project requirements.
  • Support cross-disciplinary coordination efforts to ensure constructability and compliance within MEP systems.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to clarify design intent and resolve coordination issues as they arise.

Essential Skills

  • High proficiency in AutoCAD with a minimum of 1 year of experience.
  • Strong experience working in AutoCAD with X-referencing files, locating and managing layers, and inserting external drawings and details.
  • Proficiency in setting up sheets and organizing construction documents in AutoCAD.
  • Experience working on mechanical and/or electrical systems in a drafting or design capacity.
  • Ability to read and interpret redlines and design markups accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to drawing accuracy and consistency.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Familiarity with drafting practices related to MEP systems, including electrical and mechanical coordination.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with MEP electrical systems such as power, lighting, and low voltage.
  • Exposure to or working knowledge of Revit.
  • Previous experience supporting electrical engineers or MEP design teams.
  • Familiarity with construction document standards and workflows.
  • Interest in working on complex industrial projects and tool installation environments.
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced project demands and manage multiple drawing tasks.

Work Environment

This position is 100% on-site in a project trailer at a large industrial facility. The standard work schedule is from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. You will work closely with engineers, designers, and cross-disciplinary teams in a collaborative environment that relies heavily on AutoCAD and MEP coordination. The role offers exposure to a flagship industrial project and advanced mechanical and electrical systems. The work setting is professional and project-focused, with typical construction-site adjacency and a trailer-based office environment. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance covered for the employee, with the option to add dependents via payroll deductions; coverage is provided through major health and dental/vision carriers. Paid Time Off is accrued at approximately 5 hours per pay period, totaling about 16 days per year, along with 40 hours of paid sick time annually and 9 paid holidays. A SIMPLE IRA retirement plan is available with an employer match of employee contributions up to 3% of salary once annual earnings reach $5,000. All benefits become available after 30 days of employment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
