Drafter

BlueWave is hiring a Mechanical Drafter for an industrial infrastructure client in Texas. As a Mechanical Drafter, you will convert engineering concepts and preliminary CAD models into accurate, manufacturing-ready drawings and documentation. This role focuses primarily on fluid-system designs, with additional support for structural components and large mechanical assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Convert engineering concepts and preliminary CAD models into production-ready drawings.
• Create and modify detailed 3D CAD models.
• Develop 2D manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
• Apply appropriate dimensions, tolerances, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Integrate individual components and designs into master assemblies.
• Prepare complete drawing packages for external fabrication vendors.
• Ensure documentation contains sufficient information for quoting, manufacturing, and inspection.
• Support fluid-system, piping, and structural fabrication designs.
• Incorporate engineering feedback and document design changes.
• Maintain drawing accuracy, consistency, and configuration control.
• Collaborate directly with engineers to translate design intent into manufacturable documentation.

Requirements

• Professional mechanical CAD or drafting experience.
• Strong manufacturing or fabrication drawing experience.
• Ability to convert 3D models into production-ready drawings.
• Understanding of drawing dimensions and tolerances.
• Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Understanding of how drawings are used by manufacturing and fabrication vendors.
• Experience working with individual components and mechanical assemblies.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to follow established drafting and release processes.
• Siemens NX experience strongly preferred; comparable professional 3D CAD experience will be considered.
• Experience with fluid systems, piping, structural fabrication, weldments, or large assemblies preferred.
• Experience preparing vendor-ready drawing packages preferred.

Employment Type: Contract, fully onsite in Texas, with an extended weekly schedule based on project needs.
