Description

The Town of Hopkinton is seeking a Sewer Technician to join our Department of Public Works Water & Sewer team.


This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, working outdoors, and being part of a team that provides an essential service to the community. Our Sewer Technician helps keep Hopkinton's wastewater system running safely and reliably through inspection, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and emergency response.


Anticipated Hiring Range: $29.25 – $29.69 per hour, depending on qualifications and in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Full Position Range: $29.25 – $37.28 per hour.

Hours: M-F, 6:30 am – 2:30 pm, overtime required

Competitive Benefits and Leave Package

Responds to emergency calls during and after normal business hours. 

Available for On-Call Rotation for after-hour emergencies and weekend station checks.


What We're Looking For


We're looking for someone who is dependable, safety-minded, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.


Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and one to three years of experience in wastewater, water, public works, construction, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Experience working with wastewater systems is valuable, but we also recognize that relevant skills can come from public works, construction, utilities, equipment operation, and other hands-on environments. Licenses & Certifications Required

  • 2B Hydraulics License or above
  • Class B CDL 
  • Grade 1 Wastewater Operator License (or ability to obtain within six months of hire)


A Grade 1 Water Distribution License and Water Treatment License are preferred.
