A Doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support to individuals and families during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. This role promotes a positive, safe, and empowering birth or postpartum experience by offering continuous, non-medical support, advocacy, and education. Doulas work collaboratively with families, healthcare providers, and community resources.
- Provide continuous emotional and physical support to clients during labor and childbirth.
- Utilize comfort measures such as positioning, relaxation techniques, breathing support, massage, and reassurance.
- Assist clients and families in understanding birth preferences and provide support in communicating those preferences with the medical team.
- Deliver evidence-based information on pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum recovery to support informed decision-making.
- Facilitate a calm and supportive birthing environment in alignment with patient needs and wishes.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions in accordance with organizational standards.
- Adhere to confidentiality, ethical practices, and professional boundaries at all times.
- Flexibility to work variable hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended on-call periods
