Description: CONTRACTOR ROUTING, CLIPPING, AND LAYOUT PLANNING TECHNICAL SUPPORT ENGINEER (PRIMARY: LV POWERNET/BATTERY CABLES; SECONDARY: LV HARNESS AND FLUID ROUTING)
    1. Role Classification / Engagement Type This SOW is for an individual contractor role. The contractor will perform as a staff-augmentation resource under company direction and within company processes. The position is a technical support role.
    2. Project Background - confidential initiative supporting the design, construction, and equipment/process execution of a new truck manufacturing plant in the United States. This role supports product and plant industrialization readiness through technical execution focused on routing, clipping/retention, and layout planning across multiple systems, with primary emphasis on low voltage (LV) battery cables and powernet, and secondary support for LV harnessing and fluid routing.
    3. Confidentiality / NDA Requirement Because this project is confidential, the selected contractor must execute a formal Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) prior to receiving any non-public information or system access (including designs, CAD data, layouts, routing paths, build plans, supplier details, cost information, and schedules). Contractor must comply with all confidentiality, information security, and access control requirements.
    4. Objective Provide a technical engineering resource with automotive routing/retention and layout experience to support OU Work Package Leads and Product Project PAR Leads by planning and developing routing and clipping layout solutions (electrical and non-electrical), ensuring manufacturability, serviceability, quality, and build readiness.
    5. Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities
    A. Layout planning and development (core responsibility)
    1Layout planning and development
2Create, develop, and maintain 2D/3D layout definitions for assigned routing content.
3Generate routing layouts that reflect packaging constraints, interfaces, and installation intent.

"Produce release-quality layout outputs and markups to support cross-functional reviews and downstream execution.
    "Layout reviews and change incorporation
"Support layout/design reviews by preparing layouts, documenting constraints, and capturing action items.
"Incorporate approved changes and maintain version/iteration clarity per company process.

    B. Primary focus: LV battery cables / LV powernet
    1LV power distribution routing support
2Develop and/or validate routing paths for assigned LV battery cable and powernet segments.
3Ensure routing meets packaging constraints and best practices (bend radius, clearances, heat exposure, abrasion/chafe prevention, water ingress risk, and service access).
4Provide routing alternatives and trade studies when constraints or conflicts arise.
    5Clipping/retention/protection strategy (electrical)
6Define and/or validate clipping strategy including clip selection guidance, locations, spacing, and orientation to control motion and prevent chafe.
7Recommend protection solutions (convolute/sleeving, tape, edge protection, grommets) as needed.
8Coordinate with bracket/fastener owners to ensure required provisions are incorporated.

    C. Expanded support: all routing and clipping (electrical + fluids + other lines)
1Routing and clipping technical support (cross-system)
2Provide routing and retention support for additional content as assigned, including LV harness routing and fluid routing (e.g., hoses, tubes, coolant/air/other lines as applicable).
3Ensure routing meets requirements for clearance, thermal exposure, dynamic movement, abrasion protection, drain paths, service access, and assembly sequence.

1Shared clip/bracket strategy and standardization support
2Identify opportunities to standardize clips, brackets, and retention features across systems (where allowed) to reduce complexity and improve manufacturability.
3Support definition of clip maps/retention concepts and document assumptions and interfaces.

    D. Manufacturing and build readiness
    1Manufacturing process and assembly feasibility
2Evaluate install sequence feasibility (install path, operator ergonomics, tool access, error-proofing opportunities).
3Identify manufacturing risks (misroute potential, excessive install force, rework likelihood) and propose countermeasures.
    4Cross-functional interface support
5Coordinate technical interfaces with impacted teams (vehicle packaging, body, chassis, interior, thermal, EE architecture, grounding, manufacturing engineering).
6Drive closure of interferences and missing provisions impacting routing/clipping and layout release readiness.
7Build event support and issue resolution
8Support prototype/PRS/build events as required (on-site or remote) to triage routing/clipping issues across electrical and fluid systems.
9Document issues, suspected root cause, containment, and recommended corrective actions.
10Support implementation and verification of fixes and update layouts/documentation accordingly.
    11PFMEA support (no DFMEA)
12Provide technical inputs and support to PFMEA activities related to routing and retention failure modes (chafe, clip disengagement, misbuild, kink/abrasion leading to leaks, damage during service, corrosion/water exposure).
13Recommend practical prevention and detection controls for high-risk items, aligned to manufacturing process realities.
    14Documentation and engineering evidence

"Create/maintain technical artifacts as required (layouts, routing evidence, clip strategy summaries, open-issues lists, validation status).
"Provide inputs to work instructions/visual aids where routing, clipping, and layout intent clarity is required.

    6. Deliverables (Typical Outputs) Deliverables will vary by assignment but may include:
"2D/3D layout packages and marked-up layouts (electrical and fluids) with constraints and assumptions
"Routing/clipping proposals, clip maps, retention strategy summaries, and interference lists with recommended resolutions
"Build issue logs with corrective action recommendations and verification status
"PFMEA inputs (process steps, failure modes, causes, controls, recommended actions) as requested by the PFMEA owner
"Work instruction inputs / visual aids related to routing and clipping
"Weekly technical status summary (progress, blockers, decisions needed)

    7. Duration / Term
    "Engagement Length: Two (2) years
"Start Date: TBD / upon onboarding and NDA execution
"End Date: Two years from start date unless extended by mutual written agreement.
