Description

The Door Systems and Access Control Specialist will be responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on a variety of commercial and industrial door systems and access-control equipment within a large manufacturing facility.
This is a hands-on facilities role supporting doors, gates, locks, access-control hardware, and related building systems. The position will also provide general facility maintenance support as needed.

Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, adjustments, and repairs on door systems according to established schedules and procedures.

Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic access-control components, including:

Proximity sensors
Magnetic locks
Electric strikes and latches
Door controllers
Key-access systems
Troubleshoot malfunctioning door hardware, operators, locking mechanisms, sensors, and access-control devices.
Maintain and repair locks, closers, door hardware, controllers, and related equipment.
Understand and maintain door interlocks, controls, and door sweeps used to support appropriate room pressurization and environmental conditions.
Follow established procedures for preventive maintenance and inspection of doors and access-control systems.
 

Perform general facility maintenance activities, including:

Minor patching and painting
Minor plumbing repairs
Lighting maintenance
Office furniture repairs and installation
Moving furniture, equipment, and materials
Basic locksmith services
Perform facility inspections and report conditions that may affect building operations or occupant safety.
Maintain tools, equipment, parts, and supplies in a clean and safe condition.
Maintain accurate service records and document completed work and materials used.
Coordinate with facility management and other teams regarding maintenance issues, priorities, and project completion.
Monitor work performed by outside maintenance contractors as required.
Follow all applicable safety procedures, facility policies, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Participate in technical, safety, and operational training programs.
Perform other facility maintenance duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Operate, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of door and gate systems, including:

Dock levelers and dock locks
Exterior sliding gates
Motor-operated roll-up doors
High-speed roll-up doors
Interlocking doors
Commercial metal doors
Glass entrance doors
Automatic and low-energy doors
Rolling steel fire doors
Partition and airwall doors

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Hands-on experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining commercial, industrial, or automatic door systems.
Ability to diagnose door and gate system malfunctions and determine appropriate corrective actions.
Experience with door hardware, locks, locking mechanisms, closers, operators, and controllers.
Familiarity with automatic door and access-control systems.
Knowledge of common door/access-control manufacturers such as Stanley, Dormakaba, Tormax, Chase, ASI, Schlage, or comparable brands.
Ability to work effectively in a multi-skilled facilities maintenance environment.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel and common email/document applications.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability and willingness to work overtime when required.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a pharmaceutical, laboratory, manufacturing, or other highly controlled facility environment.
Experience working in clean-room environments.
Knowledge of GMP/cGMP procedures.
AAADM certification for automatic door installation, inspection, and maintenance.
Experience with electronic access-control systems and commercial locksmithing.

Work Environment:

This is a hands-on, facility-based position requiring regular interaction with commercial and industrial door systems, access-control equipment, building systems, tools, and maintenance equipment. The technician must follow all applicable safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
