    We are seeking a Donor Services Approach Coordinator (DSAC) to guide families through the tissue and eye donation process with compassion, empathy, and professionalism. This role serves as a trusted resource for donor families, providing education, support, and advocacy while helping ensure donation opportunities are honored and carried forward.

    The Opportunity

    The Donor Services Approach Coordinator plays a critical role in the donation process by engaging with potential donor families, facilitating authorization conversations, and serving as an advocate for donation.

    In this role, you'll educate families about the donation process, conduct authorization discussions and donor risk assessment interviews, provide emotional support, and coordinate closely with HonorBridge clinical teams to ensure a seamless donation experience.

    Success in this position requires empathy, strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate sensitive conversations while honoring each family's unique needs and circumstances.

    Schedule and Location

    • Onsite position located in Winston-Salem, NC
    • Three 12-hour shifts per week
    • Night shift schedule
    • Rotating weekends and holidays

    What You'll Do

    In this role, you will:

    • Facilitate donation conversations with donor families and guide them through the authorization process for tissue and eye donation.
    • Complete Donor Risk Assessment Interviews (DRAI) and required authorization documentation accurately and compassionately.
    • Educate families about donation, donor eligibility, and the donation process while addressing questions and concerns.
    • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and resources to donor families throughout the donation process.
    • Serve as an advocate for the donor's wishes while supporting the needs of tissue and cornea recipients awaiting the gift of donation.
    • Respond to donor family inquiries with empathy, professionalism, and sensitivity.
    • Connect families with HonorBridge's Family Resource Program and appropriate community resources when needed.
    • Collaborate closely with Donor Services Center Coordinators, Tissue Administrators On Call, Tissue Recovery staff, and other internal teams to ensure a seamless donation experience.
    • Notify appropriate HonorBridge personnel of authorized donors in a timely manner.
    • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation within donor management systems.
    • Ensure all communications and documentation meet organizational, regulatory, and quality standards.
    • Utilize multiple software platforms and technology tools efficiently while managing case activity.
    • Maintain confidentiality of donor, recipient, and organizational information in accordance with HIPAA and HonorBridge policies.
    • Support quality assurance efforts through accurate recordkeeping and process compliance.
    • Maintain a professional, organized, and efficient work environment.
    • Participate in ongoing training, professional development, and education related to donation, grief support, and family services.
    • Perform other duties as assigned in support of HonorBridge's mission.

    What You'll Bring

    We're looking for someone who can combine compassion and emotional intelligence with strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to guide families through meaningful and often difficult conversations.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Associate degree in healthcare, human services, social work, counseling, or a related field.
    • Two or more years of experience in social work, chaplaincy, pastoral care, funeral services, patient advocacy, healthcare support, or a related profession.
    • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in emotionally sensitive situations.
    • Understanding of disease processes and healthcare terminology.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology.
    • Ability to analyze information and make informed decisions.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
    • Experience with databases, documentation systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
    • Strong written communication and documentation skills.
    • Commitment to the mission of organ and tissue donation.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience supporting patients, families, or individuals during times of grief, crisis, or loss.
    • Experience conducting sensitive conversations related to healthcare decisions or end-of-life care.
    • Experience in donation, transplantation, hospice, bereavement services, healthcare advocacy, or family services.
    • Familiarity with donor management systems or healthcare documentation platforms.
