Director of Nursing (RN) – Salary Up to $165,000

Elderwood at Lancaster is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (RN) to lead our Nursing Services Department. This executive leadership role is responsible for overseeing clinical operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, driving quality outcomes, and developing a high-performing nursing team in our skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility.

Located just outside Buffalo, NY, Elderwood at Lancaster provides skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and sub-acute care to residents with complex medical needs. Responsibilities

  • Direct all nursing operations and clinical services.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop nursing leadership and clinical staff.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives and regulatory readiness.
  • Partner with the Administrator, Medical Director, Pharmacy, and interdisciplinary team to achieve clinical and operational goals.
  • Foster a positive culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and exceptional resident care.

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Previous Director of Nursing or senior nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, quality measures, and clinical operations.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and team development skills.
  • Commitment to resident-centered care and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

(RN - Director of Nursing): What You’ll Lead & Own

  • Nursing Operations & Staffing: Oversight of nurse staffing, scheduling, onboarding, and development across all shifts

  • Clinical Quality & Outcomes: Assessment, planning, documentation, and delivery of high-quality nursing care

  • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Collaboration with physicians, pharmacy partners, consultants, and ancillary services

  • Leadership Development: Direct supervision, coaching, and performance management of nursing leadership and staff

  • Education & Training: Design and execution of orientation, in-service training, and ongoing clinical education

  • Regulatory Excellence: Participation and leadership in Quality Management and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Workforce Pipeline Development: May serve as Program Coordinator for the Nursing Assistant Training Program

Qualifications:

(RN - Director of Nursing): 

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (NY required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred

  • Minimum 2+ years of supervisory nursing leadership experience (DON or ADON level strongly preferred)

  • Geriatric or long-term care experience highly valued

  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and improve outcomes
