DOE – Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO)Location: Aiken, South Carolina Company: Chitina Diversified Services Department: Construction FLSA Status: Exempt | Full-TimeWage Range: $105,000 - $125,000Position OverviewChitina Diversified Services is seeking an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support federal construction activities in Aiken, South Carolina.The SSHO will provide dedicated field safety oversight and administer the project's safety program and government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan. This position plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, 29 CFR 1926.16, 10 CFR 851, and applicable contractual safety requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister and enforce the Accident Prevention Plan and site safety program. Perform daily site safety inspections. Develop, review, and maintain AHAs for definable features of work. Conduct employee safety orientations, daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and safety meetings. Inspect PPE, tools, equipment, and site conditions. Maintain safety deficiency logs and verify corrective actions. Investigate accidents and near misses. Maintain safety documentation and required inspection records. Conduct emergency response drills and required training. Identify and correct hazardous conditions and unsafe work practices. Exercise stop-work authority when necessary to protect personnel. Maintain required Safety Data Sheets and safety records. Required QualificationsAt least 5 years of applicable construction safety experience, including SSHO experience on federal/USACE construction projects. OSHA 30-Hour certification. Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications. Required continuing safety education. United States Citizenship required. Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance required. Knowledge of 10 CFR 851. Knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and applicable federal construction safety requirements. Fall Protection Competent Person certification preferred. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
