POSITION SUMMARY
Magnus is seeking a Document Remediation and Training Specialist to evaluate and remediate electronic documents and forms for compliance with Section 508 accessibility requirements. The selected candidate will also develop and deliver instructor-led training and provide individualized technical assistance to DHS personnel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate electronic documents and forms for conformance with Section 508 accessibility requirements.
- Remediate Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, and other electronic documents and forms.
- Apply the Accessibility Tests for Electronic Documents endorsed by the Federal CIO Council Accessibility Community of Practice.
- Identify document accessibility defects and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Verify remediated documents for accessibility, usability, accuracy, and visual consistency.
- Create instructional materials covering the evaluation and remediation of accessible electronic documents.
- Develop and conduct instructor-led accessibility training.
- Deliver training through one-on-one, classroom, onsite, and remote formats.
- Provide clear verbal and written technical assistance to document authors and content owners.
- Explain accessibility requirements and remediation techniques to technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Assist the Government with making multimedia content Section 508 compliant when requested.
- Maintain accurate records of remediation, training, and technical-assistance activities.
- Remain current with applicable accessibility standards, document-testing procedures, tools, and best practices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Broad knowledge of the Accessibility Tests for Electronic Documents endorsed by the Federal CIO Council Accessibility Community of Practice.
- At least two years of experience evaluating and remediating electronic documents and forms for Section 508 conformance.
- Hands-on experience remediating Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF files.
- Ability to provide clear verbal and written instruction on evaluating and remediating electronic documents and forms.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, accessible content.
- Effective written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience creating and delivering instructor-led Section 508 document-remediation training.
- Experience providing one-on-one accessibility coaching or technical assistance.
- Experience supporting accessibility requirements in a Federal Government environment.
- Experience remediating complex forms, tables, presentations, spreadsheets, and PDF documents.
- Familiarity with multimedia accessibility best practices.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must maintain the professional skills required to perform Section 508 document remediation and training throughout contract performance.
- Must satisfy applicable DHS suitability and Entry on Duty requirements.
- Must comply with DHS security, privacy, conduct, and information-protection requirements.
- Must be able to work remotely and report onsite to DHS/TSA Headquarters in Springfield, Virginia, if requested.
- Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required when authorized by the Government.
