Overview
The Audiologist-Doctorate position at Baptist Medical Group Otolaryngology Specialists involves providing comprehensive audiology services within a busy ENT practice. This includes assessing the clinical status of patients by diagnosing, managing, and habilitating patients of all ages with auditory, vestibular, and related disorders to initiate a treatment process.
Conduct and interpret a variety of tests, including hearing evaluations, to diagnose hearing and balance disorders
Conduct audiometric evaluations and assessments
Perform comprehensive audiological evaluations, including behavioral and physiological testing such as auditory brainstem evoked response (ABR), otoacoustic emissions (OAE), speech detection and recognition, auditory perception, and middle ear measures
Administer balance function testing including VNG and EcochG
Provide patient education and counseling regarding hearing health
Support day-to-day clinic operations including schedule coordination, provision of unscheduled care, and maintenance of hearing technology inventory and equipment
Assesses the clinical status of the peripheral and central auditory and vestibular systems of neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients to initiate a treatment process
Develop and implement personalized treatment plans, which may include recommending and fitting hearing aids, cochlear implants, or other assistive listening devices
Provide direct patient care by fitting and adjusting devices, counseling patients and their families on hearing loss management, and providing education on prevention
Provides surgeon with immediate feedback on cranial nerve function to assist in avoiding permanent neurofunctional deficits by using neurophysiologic intraoperative monitoring
Work with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians and speech language pathologists, as well as medical students and residents, to coordinate patient care
Utilizes professional knowledge and communication skills, counsels patient/family regarding results of the assessment and strategies to facilitate patient''s recovery from or adjustment to a communication disorder
Employs screening procedures, identifies at-risk populations and intervenes to minimize the impact on communication/development/ability
Utilizes professional expertise; confers with physicians, other professionals, and/or referral agencies to provide results for assessment and to recommend appropriate treatment/intervention
Employs appropriate aural rehabilitation procedures, improves communication abilities of an individual with hearing loss to maximize the patient''s interaction skills
Utilizes the basis of pharmacology to determine how medications may affect the patient''s symptoms and results of test procedures
Provides knowledge of business skills and governmental regulations for third party reimbursement as related to audiological services and procedures
Employs leadership qualities that support and mentor the department and community
Understands the role of imaging techniques in the evaluation of audio vestibular pathologies
Share knowledge gained from professional development to foster growth among team members
Implement and analyze quality improvement initiatives and share findings to improve clinical service delivery
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, and may be involved in billing and coding
Completes assigned goals

Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Doctor of Audiology Degree (AuD)
Licensure:
Tennessee State License in Audiology
Certifications:
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A)
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with audiometric equipment, software, and other medical technology is essential
Interpersonal Skills:
Strong communication, counseling, and problem-solving skills are necessary to effectively interact with patients and their families
Other Skills:
Excellent time management, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team are crucial
