Located within Del Valle Regional Park, our team helps create a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for boaters, anglers, campers, and day-use visitors.Title: Del Valle Marina - Livermore, CA Reports To: General Manager Department: Marina Operations Position SummaryThe Dockhand is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while supporting the daily operations of the marina. This position assists with boat rentals, docking and launching vessels, fueling operations, marina maintenance, and ensuring a safe, clean, and organized waterfront environment for guests and staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Greet guests in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner.
- Assist guests with docking, launching, mooring, and retrieving boats safely.
- Prepare rental boats for use, including cleaning, fueling, inspecting, and ensuring equipment is ready for guests.
- Provide safety instructions and operational guidance to guests renting boats or other watercraft.
- Assist with fueling boats while following all safety and environmental procedures.
- Inspect docks, slips, rental equipment, and marina facilities for cleanliness, safety, and maintenance needs.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of docks, boats, rental equipment, and surrounding marina areas.
- Assist with loading and unloading supplies, equipment, and merchandise.
- Maintain accurate records related to rentals, fuel sales, and marina operations as assigned.
- Respond professionally to guest questions and provide information regarding marina services, park amenities, and safety regulations.
- Follow all company policies, marina operating procedures, and safety standards.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient marina operations.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- Previous boating or marina experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of boating safety is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, mornings, and evenings.
- Valid California Driver License preferred.
Physical Requirements- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work on docks and floating surfaces.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to board, secure, and maneuver boats safely.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, wind, rain, and sun exposure.
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks associated with marina operations.
