Specialty Foundations & Ground Improvement
Position: Full Time
Opportunity
We are partnering with a highly respected specialty foundations contractor to identify an experienced Division Manager to lead complex foundation and ground-improvement operations. This is a senior leadership role combining deep technical expertise, people leadership, and commercial decision-making authority.
The Division Manager will serve as a technical authority and strategic leader, overseeing bidding, design coordination, and execution while managing Project Managers and maintaining accountability for risk, margins, and delivery performance.
This role directs high-risk, technically complex specialty foundation projects from pursuit through closeout. The Executive Project Manager provides senior-level leadership across preconstruction, execution, and commercial strategy while developing Project Managers and driving consistent, disciplined delivery.
10+ years of progressive experience in specialty foundation or geotechnical construction.
Demonstrated success bidding, designing, and managing projects involving:
Support of Excavation
Micropiles
Grouting
Tie-backs / soil nails
Proven experience leading and managing Project Managers.
Strong background in project financials, estimating, and risk management.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Structural Engineering preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Decisive, commercially minded, and technically credible.
Comfortable owning outcomes and making high-impact decisions.
Respected by engineers, project managers, and field leadership.
Strong communicator with clients and internal stakeholders.
Lead, mentor, and manage multiple Project Managers with full accountability for performance, workload, and results.
Provide senior-level direction across preconstruction, execution, and project closeout.
Establish clear expectations, reinforce accountability, and elevate overall team capability.
Act as senior technical leader for projects involving:
Support of Excavation systems
Micropiles
Grouting
Tie-backs and soil nails
Oversee design approaches, engineering assumptions, and constructability reviews.
Troubleshoot complex geotechnical and field execution challenges.
Ensure alignment between design intent, means and methods, and field performance.
Lead and review estimating and bidding efforts for specialty foundation projects.
Validate production assumptions, pricing strategies, margins, and exposure.
Make go/no-go decisions and guide pursuit strategy.
Evaluate projects from cost, constructability, contractual, and liability perspectives.
Support and participate in business development efforts and key client relationships.
Perform initial review of Invitations to Bid for scope fit and strategic alignment.
Provide guidance on contract terms, risk allocation, and commercial positioning.
Support change order strategy, negotiations, and collection challenges.
Monitor and report key performance metrics, including proposal volume, hit ratio, backlog, and revenue.
Improve delivery processes, cross-functional coordination, and operational consistency.
Drive disciplined execution and continuous improvement across teams.
