Dive Shop Retail Manager
Location: Seattle, WA (DIT – Divers Institute of Technology)
Compensation: $20.76–$25.00 per hour (based on experience)
About the Role:
DIT is looking for a reliable and self-motivated Dive Shop Retail Manager to independently oversee the day-to-day operations of our on-campus retail shop. This role includes managing inventory, assisting incoming students with gear fittings, and handling retail sales of school merchandise and diving equipment. This is a great position for someone who enjoys working independently, has strong retail experience, and is enthusiastic about diving or the marine environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Open and close the dive shop, maintaining a clean and organized space
- Fit incoming students for required dive gear and assist with other purchases
- Sell school merchandise, accessories, and dive-related products
- Manage stock levels: receive shipments, update inventory, restock displays
- Handle all customer transactions and maintain accurate cash handling
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable support to students, alumni, and walk-in customers
- Coordinate with DIT staff regarding student intake, inventory needs, and promotions
Qualifications:
Required:
- 1+ year retail experience (sales, stocking, or customer service)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and managing a small retail space
Preferred:
- Interest in or experience with scuba diving (certification a plus)
- Familiarity with POS systems and basic inventory tools
Schedule & Environment:
- Approximately 30–40 hours/week
- Daytime weekday shifts, with occasional flexibility during student intakes
- Indoor retail setting on a dive school campus
Wage Range:
$20.76 – $25.00 per hour, depending on experience and diving background
