This position reports to the Assistant Superintendent and Special Education Administrator Position Summary: Danvers Public Schools is seeking a collaborative and highly organized Elementary Team Chairperson to support special education programming and services across two elementary schools. This is a part-time, non-benefited position offering up to 19.5 hours per week. The Elementary Team Chairperson is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the special education Team process, supporting compliance with state and federal special education requirements, and collaborating with families, educators, related service providers, building administrators, and Student Services staff. The Team Chairperson serves as a building-level resource regarding special education procedures and practices and supports the development and implementation of high-quality Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) designed to meet students'' individual needs. Key Responsibilities: Special Education Team Process and Compliance Coordinate the special education referral, evaluation, eligibility, and reevaluation processes for students at the assigned elementary schools. Schedule and chair initial evaluation, reevaluation, eligibility, and other IEP Team meetings, as assigned. Ensure that evaluations, Team meetings, IEPs, notices, and other required documentation are completed in accordance with state and federal timelines and district procedures. Facilitate collaborative Team meetings that promote meaningful participation by families, educators, related service providers, and other Team members. Support Teams in developing high-quality, compliant IEPs that clearly identify students'' strengths and needs, measurable annual goals, specially designed instruction, accommodations, and appropriate services. Review special education documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable requirements. Maintain systems for tracking evaluations, meetings, timelines, and other special education requirements. Student and Program Support Collaborate with special education and general education staff, related service providers, school psychologists, and administrators regarding individual student needs and programming. Consult with staff regarding the development and implementation of specially designed instruction and appropriate supports for students with academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and functional needs. Participate in student support and referral processes and assist teams in determining when a special education evaluation may be appropriate. Review student data, evaluations, observations, and other relevant information to support eligibility and programming decisions. Support effective implementation of students'' IEPs and assist staff in addressing questions related to services, accommodations, goals, and specially designed instruction. Collaborate with building administrators and Student Services leadership to identify and address student-specific and programmatic needs. Family and Staff Collaboration Serve as a primary point of contact for families regarding the special education Team process at the assigned schools. Communicate clearly and collaboratively with families regarding evaluations, eligibility, IEP development, services, and procedural requirements. Provide consultation, guidance, and support to special education teachers, general education teachers, related service providers, and instructional assistants regarding special education procedures and student needs. Support staff in understanding and implementing district special education procedures and practices. Foster collaborative relationships among families, school staff, administrators, and outside providers, as appropriate. Department and District Responsibilities Participate in regular Team Chair and Student Services meetings to review procedures, compliance requirements, student needs, and programmatic issues. Collaborate with the Director of Student Services, building principals, and other Student Services administrators regarding complex Assist with special education data collection, documentation, and compliance monitoring as requested. Participate in professional learning related to special education regulations, IEP development, inclusive practices, and district initiatives. Participate in mediation, resolution meetings, or other dispute-resolution processes as requested by the Director of Student Services. Perform other related duties consistent with the role of an Elementary Team Chairperson.
