JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: SUBSTITUTE TEACHER ASSIGNMENT COORDINATOR

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; prior experience in school administrative support preferred.
  • Working knowledge of, or demonstrated aptitude with, the Red Rover staffing application and web-based scheduling platforms.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interface with staff, substitutes, and administration.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and handle dynamic daily scheduling needs under tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility to perform duties outside of standard operational working hours (including early morning and/or evening hours).

REPORTS TO: Superintendent

JOB GOAL:

To ensure educational continuity and operational stability throughout the district by efficiently monitoring teacher absences, managing daily sub rosters, and dynamically assigning district substitute teachers utilizing the Red Rover staffing application.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Continuously monitors district-wide teacher absence logs and daily substitute coverage needs.
  • Efficiently coordinates, schedules, and assigns substitute teachers (including Core Building, Daily Floating, and As Needed substitutes) to fill open positions via the Red Rover platform.
  • Performs dynamic scheduling tasks and logistics outside of standard operational school hours (e.g., early mornings and evenings) to manage last-minute absence reports and substitute availability.
  • Serves as the primary administrative point of contact for substitute teachers regarding schedule adjustments, building locations, and call-in procedures.
  • Communicates proactively with building principals, administrative assistants, and school staff regarding substitute coverage status and assignments.
  • Tracks substitute utilization, seniority preference ordering, and compliance with district substitute guidelines and policies.
  • Identifies unresolved daily vacancies in a timely manner and escalates potential coverage shortages to the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and building leadership.
  • Maintains accurate electronic records, logs, and reporting metrics regarding substitute attendance and district staffing patterns.
  • Performs such other tasks and duties related to substitute assignments as may be assigned by the Superintendent within the scope of employment.

COMPENSATION: $6,000 Stipend (Prorated annually)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

10-Month / Stipended Position. Requires regular duties outside of standard school operating hours.

BENEFITS: No health or medical benefits are provided with this position.

VACATION: There is no vacation time allotted to this position.

EVALUATION:

Performance of the job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
