Role and Responsibilities
Lead the Mel-NAP District Safety Team
Oversee and support the individual Mel-NAP building safety teams
Oversee threat assessment training (CSTAG) for select district staff
Ensure each building has a trained CSTAG team
Ensure each CSTAG team has diverse members (administration, counseling, special education, social work, general education)
Conduct threat assessments throughout the district
Be notified of threats to the district, students, staff, and community
Conduct CSTAG threat assessments at the district level
Assist in CSTAG threat assessments at the building level
Provide threat assessment results and recommendations to the superintendent
Work with law enforcement to conduct joint threat assessments
Follow prosecuted individuals through the court system
Identify victims of trauma and assist in obtaining trauma treatments
Conduct district safety meetings
Assist with building level safety meetings
Provide the district emergency line and respond to calls
Serve as the district's OK2SAY first contact
Serve as the district's public information officer
Write public statements
Assist administration in writing public statements

Community Partnerships
Oversee various district safety/crisis concerns (other than threats) at all three phases of safety
Primary Prevention: creating policies and training for safety events
Secondary intervention: address the emergency, follow the safety plan, mitigate the impact, and resolve the emergency as safely, and quickly as reasonable
Tertiary Intervention: identify those impacted by the safety event and provide supports, including trauma debriefing
Oversee post critical incident debriefing with the safety team, emergency services, staff, and community, as necessary
Oversee ALICE training for the district
Advise on online training modules for district staff
Provide in person ALICE training for select district staff
